Who says blizzards can't be fun?

While everyone else was running around bracing for Snowmaggedon 2016 and stocking up on basic, boring necessities like canned goods, flashlights, rock salt, and generators, our approach here at Dr. Oz The Good Life headquarters in NYC was a little more, well, fun. Check out how we stay sane, fueled, and fit when we're stuck inside during a storm.

First on my agenda: Call the local wine store and find out when they're planning to close shop. Then, make it my numero uno priority to get there before the doors close. Can't get through a storm without Shiraz!

Blizzards also call for feel-good stretches. Shoveling snow is a great workout, but it can be tough on muscles, so limbering up helps prevent a sore back.

If we lose electricity this weekend, the thing I fear most is an internal power outage — aka not being able to brew a strong cup of coffee (or four). And, let's face it, there is nothing worse than crappy instant stuff. To the rescue: Stumptown's Cold Brew. I stocked up on three bottles at Whole Foods yesterday.

Next up? Rosewood incense. You know, in case all that sitting in the dark without electricity inspires me to meditate.

Lastly, a pre-blizzard workout is on my to-do list. Just in case Snowmaggedon 2016 leads to a transportation nightmare and I can't get to my spin studio this weekend, I've been dialing the workouts up a notch now. And I know no better way to turn that dial all the way than Akin Akman's classes at Soul Cycle.

I'm penciling it in as my Day-Off Diet day off. Spaghetti bolognese, get in my mouth.

I personally can't face the idea of a blizzard without plenty of wine, or the makings for whisky sours. There also needs to be milk for the coffee, and perhaps ingredients to make a beef stew. Even if the electricity goes out, I can still cook on my gas stove.

I get all my snow gear ready — my winter boots, my puffer jacket — so that I can take a walk in the park once it's all over. It's peaceful, and slogging through all that snow really makes you work up a sweat.

I always make something that I can eat cold — like veggie lasagna — in case the power goes out. I also always, always, always make sure I have coffee and, of course, lots and lots of magazines to read.

I'm planning on soaking some beans tonight to make a yummy bean and quinoa chili that should last me throughout the weekend and also help in my quest to eat more vegetarian meals. I also plan to put my electric kettle I got for Christmas to good use and keep the flow of warming teas (green and peppermint are my favorites!) going. Oh, and I'll snuggle up with my dog for all the feels.

I just started Kayla Itsines' 12-week workout plan with two of my coworkers and luckily I can do the circuits at home if I have weights and a medicine ball. This soon-to-come snowpocalypse will be just the push I need to go out and get them. I'll also make my aunt's famous sunshine soup (butternut squash goodness), stock up on my favorite cinnamon spice tea, and tape any/all Lifetime movies between now and when the snow starts. There you have it — good fitness, good food, and good fun, all without having to leave the comfort of my warm, cozy apartment!

I actually hit the grocery store this morning before work because I figured it would be cray-cray tonight! One of my essentials is logs for the fireplace — not for warmth or anything, just because if I'm going to be inside, I want to be cozy. I also bought nail polish remover, figuring that the girls and I could give ourselves pedis. And I bought fixins to make coffee cake for them. And lasagna. Comfort food won over healthy.

I'll be stocking up on cookbooks and health-related books and mags. I won't be leaving the house, so it's the perfect time to catch up on my reading and/or try out new recipes.
