Q: Do you need to disinfect your phone?
Oz says: You don't have to go overboard. Many device screens have a layer that repels smudges and makes microbes less likely to stick to the surface. So a sweep with a microfiber cloth (moistened is best) should remove most trouble, says Dubert Guerrero, MD, an infectious disease specialist at Sanford Health in Fargo, ND.
If you're around a lot of germs, it's worth taking the steps below.
1. No, Don't Dunk It! But wipe it down frequently if you tend to pass it around or take it into the bathroom.
2. Use a Waterproof Case. Make sure it's one you can clean with a disinfectant wipe if you work in a hospital or a school.
