The Claim: Fans drink raw milk because they say the pasteurization that kills bad bacteria also destroys the good kind, along with health-promoting enzymes and vitamins.
Oz Says: There's little proof of this milk's benefits, but there is definite evidence of its dangers. "With raw milk, you have 100 times the risk of exposing yourself to E. coli, listeria, and other bacteria that can cause diarrhea, vomiting, and even kidney failure or much worse," says Benjamin Davis, at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. That's why it's illegal in nearly half of the country.
