Did you know that Japanese women have the longest life expectancy (at 87 years) of anyone in the world? It's long been attributed to their healthy diets. And in a large March 2016 study, researchers found that adults who adhered to Japanese dietary guidelines — a balanced diet consisting mostly of whole grains, veggies, beans, fruit, oils, nuts, seeds, and fish — had a lower risk of death from all causes and heart disease in particular compared to adults who did not follow the guidelines.
