Ever find yourself half-a-pint deep in cookies 'n' cream with no clear memory as to how you got there? To crush your cravings with just one scoop, pile on healthy toppings that'll keep you satisfied. Kerri-Ann Jennings, RD, suggests these:
Add Something Fresh
Use a real cherry instead of a neon-red fruit facsimile, or try pomegranate seeds, raspberries, or strawberries. Mint leaves go gloriously with chocolate, and tangy Greek yogurt pairs so well with coffee ice cream.
Drizzle Something Sweet
Zap nut butter in the microwave for a fast sauce. Olive oil sounds crazy, but it tastes crazy good on vanilla with sea salt and lemon zest. In a microwave, melt 1 Tbsp dark chocolate chips with 1 tsp coconut oil.
Throw On Some Toppings
Toss on nuts and seeds; they're delicious and nutritious. Use popcorn — especially the half-popped kernels. Crumble up freeze-dried fruit into grown-up "sprinkles."
