Sweet Potato Brownies Are the Newest Must-Try Dessert

The orange spud is good for so much more than fries.

There's no point in lying, so here goes: We love baked goods. Especially brownies. Unfortunately, our favorite ooey-gooey-fudgy treat can rack up a few hundred calories in just one serving. And we don't even want to think about the amount of butter and sugar that goes into each batch. Sigh.

Luckily, there's a new food trend that allows us to have our brownie and eat it, too: Many desserts are getting veggie makeovers these days — you've probably already tried black bean brownies (and if you haven't, get on that stat) — and sweet potatoes are the latest Belles of the Sneaky-Dessert-Ingredient Ball.

Dates and Avocados Instagrammer Lore Salas is the mastermind behind this simple brownie recipe that we can't stop drooling over.

"Because sometimes I also like baked treats, these vegan brownies are the perfect choice. Sweet, soft, and made with whole, natural ingredients," she wrote in her post.

In addition to the sweet potatoes, Salas adds many other better-for-you ingredients, including medjool dates, almond milk, and coconut oil.

We don't know about you, but these are going to the top of our must-cook list.
