Q: Should guys take testosterone for low T?
Testosterone pills or creams can help men who truly need it regain sex drive, muscle strength, mental sharpness, and even bone density. But "truly" is the key word. Too many guys are getting testosterone therapy who don't need it, which could raise their heart attack or stroke risk. Guys should try to raise T levels naturally first: Lose weight (belly fat, in particular, lowers T levels), quit smoking, get enough sleep, do a few intense bursts of exercise every day, and take a multivitamin with zinc. If T levels are still too low, replacement may make sense.
