Model-turned-actress Cara Delevingne earned her fame on the catwalks, but the busy and stressful lifestyle of a supermodel also triggered the 24-year-old's psoriasis. Walking in as many as 53 runway shows in a Fashion Week at the height of her modeling career, Delevingne experienced severe psoriasis flare-ups as well as anxiety and depression.
"People would put on gloves and not want to touch me because they thought it was, like, leprosy or something," she told the Daily Mail. Delevingne struggled with a poor body image as a result and cites these experiences as the reason she switched over to acting.
CNN International news anchor Zain Verjee, 42, shows her face to millions for a living, but in years past she "[couldn't] bear to look in the mirror" because of her psoriasis, which she has had since she was 8. Her path to treatment and self-acceptance was a difficult one that she outlined in a piece for CNN.com.
"I believe that diet, mindset, and a wonderful support system were the best long-term answers for me," she wrote. "[And now] the mirror isn't my enemy any longer."
