Q: Should you get the shingles vaccine before you hit 60?
Oz Says: As bad as a case of shingles is, you don't want this vaccine too early. It's true that the rash, caused by the same virus that's behind chickenpox, is excruciating. But if you rush to get the vaccine when you're younger and your immune system is strong, the fear is you won't be protected later, when your risk of getting shingles and its complications is highest, says neurologist Maria A. Nagel, MD, at the University of Colorado School of Medicine. Save it.
