The Weird But Obvious Way to Keep Your Mascara From Clumping

No more dry tubes.

There are few things a makeup-lover appreciates more than a brand new tube of mascara — it's like adding a fresh coat of paint to your look.

But alas, with each uncapping of the tube, your mascara inevitably gets drier and drier — and the proof is in the clumps. There is a way to make it feel like the first time every time, however, and chances are it's been right there in your medicine cabinet all along.

Your secret weapon? Eye drops. Yes, all you need to do is squeeze a few drops in the tube (between two and four), use the mascara wand (the cleaner the better!) to stir it up, and give it a few shakes, and then instantly, your formula will be like new. You can use your new-and-improved tube to coat your lashes so they're long, full, and curled just the way you like 'em.

Although using regular water will have a similar effect, it can also present a problem when used with waterproof formulas — and it might create more clumps. The texture just isn't as silky! Another bit of advice: Make sure that you're using a fresh or designated eye drop bottle, though, as you don't want any bacteria to make its way inside the tube.

Now happy swiping!
